I.
I stepped into a street buried behind a hidden corner.
The sound of coffee grinding weaves through the streets and alleys,
French toast is sliced, a knife scraping against a porcelain plate, across the street under the gaze of a pale gray Gothic statue.
Blue pinpricks cover the stretched-out skin.
A woman in pain, a body indistinguishable and bodies tangled.
The air carries an inescapable scent of death.
A wave of dizziness washed over me.

BIO:
Shan Lyu is an artist and writer based in London. Having completed an MA from the University of the Arts London fine art program, she is taking on a creative writing and artistic practice based in UAL. She works across the mediums of prose, composition and sound art.
